International Students

Anyone considering university study at the Faculty of Sciences of the Lebanese University has a lot to think about: How can I get a place to stay? How good must my Arabic / French / English languages skills be? Where do I apply? Is there any social security coverage? Any visa information is provided? Even those international students who have already arrived to our faculty still have a lot to do! To help you find the right answers to your questions, we have provided an overview of the most important information for international students.

Applying to the Faculty of Sciences

Enrolling in BS and Master M1 degrees do not require any file application.

For Masters and M2 degrees, you need to apply the year before the start date of your course by completing the online application form at cand.fsciences.ul.edu.lb. Applications open in first of may, and the deadline is 11pm LB time on 31 May every year.

The application process for international students is exactly the same as it is for Lebanese students. Whilst the application process itself is the same, we recognise that there are a number of additional elements international students will need to consider when applying to our faculty, including visa and immigration information as well as degrees equivalendy arrangements for international candidates.

Language Requirements

All teaching at The Faculty of Sciences at the Lebanese University is carried out in English or French (with the exception of some language-specific teaching) and tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English / French to cope with your course from the start. Several French and English courses are also given during all university curriculums.

  • Cost of living in Lebanon: Living in Lebanon is relatively expensive. According to current calculations you will need some $ 500 per month (inclusive of rent, but free time activities are not included) for living in the Lebanese capital Beirut. Please make sure that sufficient funds are available for the whole period of your studies, as you cannot count on scholarships and restrictions apply to your work permit.More infos can be found here.
  • Accommodations in Lebanon: It's not easy to find a place to live in Beirut - but it's not impossible either! For this, the Lebanese University supports students in their search for accommodation by providing competitive fees to its dorms. Click here and here for further details.
  • Social Security fees: No social security is mandataory for international students.
