Objective

Content

The laboratory works are based on the study of prepared microscopic slides, and samples collected from different habitats in Lebanon, as well as the dissection of selected specimens representing the different phyla of Invertebrates. 1st and 2nd sessions: Protozoa Culture, microscopic slides: Paramecium, Vorticella, Didinium, Stylonichia, Balantidium, Amoeba, Entamoeba, Arcella, Forams, Radiolarians, Opalina, Trypanosoma, Didinium, Plasmodium. 3rd session: Sponges, Cnidarians Leucosolenia, Sycon, spongin fibers, spicules , Hydra, Obelia, Aurelia Actinia, Metridium,. 4th session: Plathelminths and Nematodes (Planaria, Clonorchis sinensis, Taenia), (Ascaris, Ankylostoma, Trichinella) 5th session: Annelids Dissection of land snail and prepared slides (cross section of Lumbricus, Nereis and Hirudo medicinalis (medical leech). 6th session: Mollusks Dissection of land snail, Radula, samples of octopus, squid or cattlefish, bivalve shells (Glycymeris, Brachidondes….). 7th session : Arthropods Dissection of crayfish, samples of Cirripeds, Isopods and Decapods (crabs). 8th session: Arthropods Prepared slides of crustaceans (Daphnia, Cyclops, Gammarus) and insects mouth parts: chewing, licking, piercieng- sucking, sucking . 9th and 10th session: Samples of chelicerates (Ixodes, spider, scorpion); Myriapodes (Centipedes and Millipedes); and insects representing the major orders. 11th session: Echinoderms Dissection of sea urchin, samples of sea stars, serpent stars, sea cucumbers and crinoids 12th session: Exam
