Objective

This course aims to deepen understanding of diseases caused by phytopathogen agents. The main objective of the course is to enable students to develop an understanding for the main plant diseases, the interaction between the causes of diseases and cultures, as well as protection strategies that emerge

Content

Study of symptoms of plants, strategies for diagnosis, etiology and epidemiology of damage, various control options are analyzed by cases as exemplary. Abiotic factors; Parasitism and development of plant diseases: Relationship host-parasite interactions of the plant and the pathogen; Plant diseases caused by viruses, prokaryotes, mycoplasma, fungi, flowering plants and phytopathogenic nematodes. Characteristics of these pathogens, their means of dissemination, survival and cycling. Action of the environment on disease development. TD-LAB: Exercises on fresh material, fixed, crops or permanent preparations to train students in techniques for identifying hytopathogen agents. Cultures and identification of phytopathogenic fungi, analyzes of symptoms of plants, and establishing an appropriate diagnosis
