The Faculty of Science at the Lebanese University The Lebanese Oil and Gas Initiative LOGI Organize within the Geoscience Technology Platform PLATOS the workshop: All together to benefit from oil and gas sector in Lebanon Thursday 12 April 2018 – 10 am Faculty of Science – Annex 1 – Nizar Salhab Rafic Hariri Campus - Lebanese University The Geosciences formation at the faculty of Science – Lebanese University is based on a strategic development plan running from 2013 till 2020. Two stages have been already realized to accompany bachelor and Master Degrees in Geosciences. An international consortium (stage I) and a technology platform (stage II) support the curricula in both theoretical and training courses. For stage 3, an International Laboratory in Geosciences will be implemented to sustain the development of scientific research in the domain. The academic strategy for the geoscience development in Lebanon is also supported by LOGI activities. In this meeting LOGI will: 1- Raise the awareness of students around the current updates on the oil and gas sector in Lebanon while discussing the building blocks of the sector (national strategy, sound planning, good governance, public consultation, implementation of laws, transparency, accountability) 2- Raise a feel of public consultation by holding several debates among students The event will be split into several parts: an activity or ice breaker, an introduction to LOGI, broad description of the building blocks of the sector, debate about certain topics that were covered.
